Religion, science and law as one tradition.
A living religious order in the Armanen tradition of the eighteen Runes.
We are custodians of Orthodox Armanism: the true and traditional Armanism, older than any one teacher and practiced openly today. Open to every sincere student.
One tradition: religion, science and law
Orthodox Armanism is a complete tradition, not a single practice. It holds three things together, and the Order keeps all three.
Religion
Wihinei
The sacred tradition and its practice: lived and known, not merely believed.
Science
Weistum
Knowledge sought and tested, including the Order’s own work in Armanen Cybernetics and Ritaic Thermodynamics.
Law
Rita
The ordering law of the world, and the just order of life that follows from it.
What the Wihinei is
Wihinei is a term for religion in general: the ancient, primordial language-religion, with its outer, exoteric line of practice and its inner, esoteric line. The outer line is Wuotanism, the religion of Odin as the folk kept it. The inner line is Armanism, the teaching kept by the Armanen. In the Order it is a religio-scientific path: practiced, not merely believed.
Our only dogma is that there isn’t any.
Orthodox means traditional: the teaching is kept faithfully, and belief is never required. You are not asked to believe anything about the gods. Some in the Order experience them as real beings, some as archetypes, some as something like the Egyptian Neteru. The Wihinei gives you practices, and you reach your own conclusions.
An ancient tradition
The Wihinei is far older than any one teacher. The Holy Armanen Order is one custodian of it. Driven underground by the oppression of the church, it is now practiced openly. How the tradition survived. Meister Guido von List, Der Meister, taught and wrote about it, and we honor him as a great teacher and master, not as its source. How the Order answers the history question.
Runenarbeit: Rune-work
Runenarbeit is the practical work of the Runes, one part of the whole tradition. The eighteen Armanen Runes are the original Runes, spoken of and taught by Odin in the Hávamál. We practice them in many ways, and always for ethical purposes: members are forbidden to practice anything that harms another person.
Rune Yoga
The postures and movements of the Runes, held with the breath.
Rune Chanting
Galdr: each Rune’s name and vowel series, sung with sustained, evenly weighted sounds.
Carving
Cutting the Runes by hand and bringing them to life.
Casting
Rune divination: an advanced practice, taught in intensive training with qualified Goðar and Vitkar.
Healing
Rune practices for wholeness and well-being.
Protection work
The protective powers of the Runes, for body, home and circle.
Meditation and dedications
Daily practice that anchors everything else.
…and more as you go deeper. Rune healing practices are spiritual practices and not a substitute for medical care.

The Armanen Institute
The Armanen Institute is the teaching branch of the Order. It offers what a library can’t: sequence, guidance and a path. Its courses carry the Institute’s certificate of completion, and they are the foundation for those who wish to pursue more serious training later.
Urgrund, the Foundations course, is a beginner’s formation of nine lessons over three months. It is open to everyone, and its first lesson is free. The vocational paths for Kamanen and Armanen are by application.
Questions people ask
Is Armanism connected to Nazism or racism?
No. The Nazis took what suited them from Christianity, from Germanic spiritual traditions and from the Runes, to dress their movement in older symbols. They were never part of the Armanen tradition or of legitimate Germanic spirituality. They stole its symbols, and imprisoned teachers of the very traditions they claimed. Many Nazis were baptised Christians; the movement was never a pagan one, and it was never ours. The Order has no connection to any political movement. For the documented history, read our ten-part series, The Parasite and the Priesthood.
What is Orthodox Armanism?
The true, traditional and ancient Armanism, about which Meister Guido von List wrote extensively. Much of the internet claims that Meister Guido von List invented Armanism or the Armanen Runes. He did not. He wrote about a tradition that was already ancient. The Holy Armanen Order is one of its custodians.
Do I have to believe in the gods?
No. You are not asked to believe anything: not about the gods, and not about any teaching or practice. Some in the Order experience the gods as real beings, some as archetypes, some as something like the Egyptian Neteru. Study, practice, and reach your own conclusions.
Who can take part?
Every sincere student. People of every background are welcome, in any country: the Global Halgadom is online and open worldwide. Entry is by written inquiry and is never purchased.
What is galdr?
Rune Chanting. Each Rune’s name and vowel series are sung with sustained, evenly weighted sounds, one sound per breath, and for some Runes with arm movements.
Do I need to know anything to start?
Curiosity and a willingness to practice. No prior knowledge of the Runes or of German is needed.
How is the Order supported?
By the fees for Institute courses, by purchases in the Shop, and by voluntary gifts. Initiation, ordination and entry into the Halgadom are never for sale, and no one is turned away for inability to pay.
